Fifth Element of Game Theory Essay Example for Free

Fifth Element of Game Theory Essay As every one of the contending organizations watchfully study the moves made by the others in a similar industry they all have a place with, they now and then wind up choosing to simply do as well as can be expected to win the greatest offer in the market †without investing more energy centering of the others. This bearing, when taken by the business players, results to the event of â€Å"Nash balance. † (Economics eleventh Edition by Richard G. Lipsey Paul N. Courant, UK: HarperCollins College Publishers, 1996) The above chart outlines the Nash harmony and the ideal outcome that it prompts (Osborne, An Introduction to Game Theory). Instead of how severely things may wind up for the contending players, Nash harmony acquires beneficial outcomes for everyone. Rather than stalling out with the â€Å"prisoner’s dilemma† or the â€Å"pride game†, organizations in this situation have separately selected to adhere to the systems that they accept will work and will give them the market predominance that will make sure about their place as the business head. Impacts of Equilibrium carries equalization to the economy †regardless of whether long-or fleeting. As a brief stage that could possibly be kept up, balance happens when there is no inclination for change in the choices of the financial elements in regards to their items and administrations, the cost and volume that they will gracefully, and the interest portion that they will target. (Lipsey Courant 510) Equilibrium comes in various structures as overarching conditions differ. â€Å"In the macroeconomic products showcase, balance happens when arranged total use is equivalent to total yield. † Thus, the volume that the providers has made accessible in the market is a similar volume that purchasers will really purchase. In the interim, harmony in the budgetary markets is achieved when the gracefully of cash is equivalent to the interest for cash (Case Fair 67). In this setting, qualified borrowers find that there are advances that they can profit. In a similar setting, budgetary establishments can use in their tasks the inert money in their coffers †they issue advances to amplify their pay from loaning exercises. Balance has been completely investigated as an idea and has been credited with a wide range of utilizations emerging from particular conditions and ends. It isn't astonishing that there developed a specific part of game hypothesis called â€Å"General Equilibrium Theory† which is generally utilized in examining people in general and private segments of the economy. (David Levine site) Freddie Mac in the Game Theory Freddie Mac never needed to avoid numerous rivals in the business. As one of the two monsters â€the other one being Fannie Mae †serving the country’s auxiliary home loan advertise, the gaming region has ended up being unquestionably open. In fact, there is the whole USA as the region to be adjusted and there come the banks to deal with managing them †at that point there come Freddie Mac, Fanny Mae and Ginny to pour in the required money related assets. With Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae giving or ensuring an aggregate of $5. 4 trillion in exceptional home loan obligation, these two organizations basically make up the whole home loan industry. Moreover, they are outfitted with all the required ammo for winning: Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac have undeniable solid focuses. Because of the inferred sponsorship of the United States government, they appreciate for all intents and purposes boundless access to the capital markets at subsidizing costs that are underneath showcase. They make good on no nearby charges, just national. Every ha appreciated gigantic development and productivity. As the greatest guarantors of home loan upheld protections and corporate protections on the planet, the greatest purchasers and hedgers of the protections on the planet, and, not least, the wellspring of liquidity for over 75% of customary and acclimating home loans stretched out in this nation, it could be contended that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are about as integral to the American capital markets as the Treasury Department. (Annaly webstie) (Source: World Socialist site) To be sure, with their pined for jobs as suppliers of a proceeding with gracefully of cash for the financial establishments occupied with retail loaning to the hoards, Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae own the game. As contenders offering similar items and administrations, appreciating the equivalent uncommon benefits and managing similar customers, Freddie Mac and Fannie May have reliably been similar to indistinguishable twins †however Fannie May ends up being decades more seasoned than Freddie Mac. With every single one of them enthused about beating the other, the procedures and bundles they depended on ended up working for them two, at any rate during the blasting development long periods of the business. Steady with the Nash harmony idea, a report that turned out in the Spring of 2002 indicated that completely one-portion of 2002’s 1. 2% gain in genuine GDP development was welcomed on by the lodging exercises the nation over. (Annaly site) Freddie Mac and Fannie May have been playing the Nash Equilibrium game. In such a game as theirs, â€Å"players play as well as can be expected given their convictions, and they have taken in everything to find out about their opponent’s play† (David Levine site). The Secret of Happiness

The Secret of Happiness A merchant sent his son to learn the secret of happiness from the wisest of men.The young man wandered through the desert for forty days until he reached a beautiful castle at the top of a mountain. There lived the sage that the young man was looking for. However, instead of finding a holy man, our hero entered a room and saw a great deal of activity; merchants coming and going, people chatting in the corners, a small orchestra playing sweet melodies, and there was a table laden with the most delectable dishes of that part of the world. The wise man talked to everybody, and the young man had to wait for two hours until it was time for his audience. With considerable patience, the Sage listened attentively to the reason for the boy’s visit, but told him that at that moment he did not have the time to explain to him the Secret of Happiness. He suggested that the young man take a stroll around his palace and come back in two hours time.“However, I want to ask you a favor,” he added, handling the boy a teaspoon, in which he poured two drops of oil. “While you walk, carry this spoon and don’t let the oil spill.”The young man began to climb up and down the palace staircases, always keeping his eyes fixed on the spoon. At the end of two hours he returned to the presence of the wise man.“So,” asked the sage, “did you see the Persian tapestries hanging in my dining room? Did you see the garden that the Master of Gardeners took ten years to create? Did you notice the beautiful parchments in my library?”Embarrassed, the young man confessed that he had seen nothing. His only concern was not to spill the drops of oil that the wise man had entrusted to him.“So, go back and see the wonders of my world,” said the wise man. “You can’t trust a man if you don’t know his house.”Now more at ease, the young man took the spoon and strolled again through the palace, this time paying attention to all the works of art that hung from the ceiling and walls. H e saw the gardens, the mountains all around the palace, the delicacy of the flowers, the taste with which each work of art was placed in its niche. Returning to the sage, he reported in detail all that he had seen.“But where are the two drops of oil that I entrusted to you?” asked the Sage.Looking down at the spoon, the young man realized that he had spilled the oil.“Well, that is the only advice I have to give you,” said the sage of sages. “The Secret of Happiness lies in looking at all the wonders of the world and never forgetting the two drops of oil in the spoon.”From  The Alchemist by Paul Coelho

Analysis Of The Movie The Hunting Ground - 1281 Words

Mayra Leon Fogg WS 135 Dr. Slagter Outside Event 1 4/24/15 The Hunting Ground For my outside event I chose to attend the screening of â€Å"The Hunting Ground† which was directed by Kirby Dick, who also directed the film, â€Å"The Invisible War†. In addition to the special screening of this film, Kirby Dick made a special appearance for a post-film discussion. The event began at 5:30P.M. and went on till about 7:30P.M. or so which began with a rocky start as Kirby Dick was scheduled to arrive in time to introduce the film to the audience, but due to an unfortunate mishap on Highway 99, it caused him to arrive closer towards the end of the film. In the film we are presented with two protagonists, Andrea Pino a valedictorian from her high school and Annie Clark who graduated third in her high school class. Both ladies are alumni’s at University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, and both had been sexually assaulted before their classes at UNC had even began. Both girls shared very similar experiences; they both knew their at tacker, they were in denial about their assaults, and when they approached their school administrators to report the assault were bombarded with insulting questions in regards to how they were dressed the night of the attack, if they had been drinking, and essentially boiled it down to that both girls got what was coming for them for putting themselves into those situations. The Mental Health Of The Wealthy - 1842 Words

Similar to parents, schools overlook and neglect the mental health of students because of their fixation on academic success. In 2005 out of 302 middle school students at a private school, the rate of depression for girls was twice that of the general rate of depression for teens (Luthar). The mental health of the wealthy is underestimated seeing that people believe that wealth is an immunity against mental illnesses. Instead, schools misread the symptoms of depression as stress. Also considering that school is an institute for education, the health of the students is not as prioritized. The success of students and their acceptances into college is emphasized and the mental health of students becomes only a topic of health class. Taking into account the duration of a teenager’s life in class, schools should take more responsibility for their students’ mental health. Craig’s situation portrays his school’s neglect of its students’ mental health when he believes that the principal is calling to expel him for admitting himself into a mental ward: â€Å"Now he’s on my ass because he knows I’m crazy and knows I haven’t been doing my homework. [†¦] I’m being expelled. I’m out of school. I’m never going to go to high school again. I’m never going to go to college† (Vizzini 301-302). Craig’s fear of expulsion illustrates the school’s failure to communicate its support for its students. Much Ado About Nothing Is One Of William Shakespeares Many Comedy Play

Much Ado About Nothing is one of William Shakespeare's many comedy plays. Much Ado About Nothing differs from most of the other comedies in that it has naturalized the romantic materials. There are not any fairy kingdoms, as in Midsummer to help the story flow better. Even the language does not have the quality of Shakespeare's other writings. It is closer to ordinary speech. William Shakespeare was very well know for his for his poetry from about 1587 up to the present date. Many of his writings are being interpreted into movies today. Claudio, Don Pedro, Bene*censored*, Hero and Beatrice are the five main characters in Much Ado About Nothing. Throughout this whole play everyone in the story is trying to accomplish something without telling others all the information. In this romantic comedy two sets of lovers share the spotlight. Most of the plot's action is devoted to Claudio and Hero, who eventually come together despite the different problems. In the first part of this play, Claudio's best friend Don Pedro volunteers to bring Claudio to Hero's attention, but before he has finished Don Pedro's brother, Don John, spreads rumors that Don Pedro has made Hero fall for him. Claudio finds out that he was only hearing rumors and Don Pedro brings Hero and Claudio together. Meanwhile, Beatrice and Bene*censored* amuse the others. Tricks are played on Beatrice and Bene*censored* so they think that they like each other. Later one of Don John's friends pretends to make love with Hero while Don Pedro and Claudio witness from a hiding place. Claudio and Hero arrive at their wedding and before they are married Claudio denounces Hero as unfaithful. Hero's father believes this false information and curses her. She swears to him that is untrue and the Friar gives advice to say that Hero died of grief and, then, to hope the truth will come out. Don John's friend is captured and he admits to pretending to be with Hero that night. Claudio then finds out and tells Hero's father that he will take the hand of his niece in marriage. This is where Claudio realizes his true love for Hero. He is full of sorrow and does not think anything could change the way he feels about Hero. He is deeply in love with her but it is too late because he has killed her. The play ends with the return of Hero, masked as Hero's father's niece. Hero and Claudio reunite. Bene*censored* and Beatrice also join hands. Don John is punished in the end for all of his problem causing. Claudio is introduced as a young lord of Florence, a soldier and a loyal friend. He is, however, one who is easily carried away by romantic ideas and tends to let his emotions be ruled by traditional attitudes. Shakespeare makes it seem that there is also something of a self-seeking protective character in his love affair. He has love of some sort for Hero yet he decides this only after seeing her. He falls in love with the outside of her and assumes that her personality is just as great as the outside. Claudio may seem bad but he also is a very remorseful man. He is truly sorry for his error, is willing to do anything for Hero's father and sticks with his deal. Don Pedro, the Prince of Arragon, is a noble, frank, genial and a well-tempered man. He can be a bit hasty to jump to conclusions. He has been successful in putting down the rebellion acts of his brother and has graciously pardoned him. He is not only a lord but also a close friend to his followers Claudio and Bene*censored*. He obviously wishes to enjoy his stay in Messina, and his offer to help Hero fall for Claudio seems to be encouraged by the pleasure of amusing and challenging him to help his friend. He welcomes the opportunity to bringing Bene*censored* and Beatrice together. This shows his love for different challenges. Bene*censored* is a young lord of Padua. He is confused by the how he should approach Beatrice with his feelings for her. After his friends play a trick on him and he finds out that Beatrice likes him he falls deeply in love with her. He expresses his love for

Extra Credit Example Extra Credit – Coursework Example Lecturer Essay #4 Opera and singing In this interview conducted by Terry Gross of Fresh Air, Dolora Zajick gives an insight to heropera career and how it began. Zajick is the director of the Institute of Young dramatic Voices which focuses on usual voices. This is an informative interview, especially for upcoming opera singers still learning their trades. She offers insights into how it feels to sing opera and the secrets towards a successful career in opera singing and generally in music. I have learned three main ideas from the interview that have helped me understand what singing opera is about and how to become a successful opera singer. First, it is important to learn to concentrate in what is happening at the moment in order to bring the best out of yourself. Zajick says that signing is connected to the body, and most of the expressions come from a form of kinesthetic awareness. Therefore, it is important to focus on what you are doing at the time and concrete. Secondly, Zajic k has highlighted the importance of relaxation. To be a good singer, one needs to relax. The best way to achieve this is by letting things go. You don’t have to do many things at a time but instead figure out what you want to do and isolate it form other things. Exercise on what you need to use. Finally, in the interview, Zajick has also explained how important it is for artists to take care of themselves. For example, a good singer should not let minor health issues such as colds interfere with his/her singing. She, for instance, she sleeps on her stomach in order to maintain her vocals. Therefore, understanding and taking good care of one’s body is important. Zajick, Dolora. â€Å"For Opera Powerhouse Dolora Zajick, Singing Is Connected To The Body. † interview by Terry Gross. Fresh Air. NPR, 2014. Web 8 May 2014. Extra Credit Example Extra Credit – Coursework Example The Power of Opera The interview with Dolora Zajick is very revealing concerning singing techniques used in opera as well as general attitudes and perception of opera by general audience. The interviewer herself has just discovered the power of opera; her point of view is important to deliver the message that opera which is considered to be dull and boring should not be perceived stereotypically. Opera singers are actors; their dramatic voices are used to render not only the power of voice but the plot of the opera, feelings, impressions and psychological world of their character. Dolora Zajick’s aria from Aida looks as a scene from a movie. It is very engaging because of the power of her voice, her gestures, mimics, costume and props. I think it is a good example to convince people that they do not need to think about opera in negative light. It is not enough to have a big dramatic voice to become an opera singer. One needs to be an actor because opera is not as simple in its form and structure.Dolora Zajick’s activities are very motivating for young people. She helps young talents to find their path into opera. Young dramatic and big voices are often mocked in high school choruses where all students are expected to be ordinary. People with big voices cannot reveal their voice in pop music or other common genres. Opera is not very popular with general audience; it is the reason why people often choose not to sing at all. Dolora Zajick gives them a great opportunity to realize their potential in opera singing and encourages young people to try opera. She is a great person with good sense of humor and positive attitude towards all people. She tries to make opera closer to people and gives them more chances to understand the complexity of this art. Income growth helps organizations realize their profitability and income generation, according to this the stakeholders are given their share of profit in the form of more stocks or cash. This effects the business operations in a positive manner as they are pointing towards a positive direction. The earning per share helps the company decide the price of their stock, as the company's earning per share increases it becomes more profitable. EPS also helps tell the stakeholders the position of the company in the market and the risk associated with it. This effects the business operations of the company and they try to organize their operations according to the plans and strategy that are being implemented by the company. All these three revenue growth, income growth and earning per share are the fundamentals of the business and their overall impact on the business operations is to aware the management of the necessary changes that are required. Net profit and cash flow are two separate things that help in analyzing the business progress and where a company is heading to. These two also determine whether the company is a success or a failure. The two components help the company in organizing itself and predicting the future. Net profit is basically all the revenue minus cost of goods sold which equals to gross profit then we minus the operating expenses from the gross profit we get the net profit. Net profit is then used to pay the dividends to stake holders and save amount for future investments. Cash Flow: Cash flow is basically all the cash that is flowing into the company and all the cash that is going out of the company. Cash flow only includes current assets and mainly is cash related. The cash flow does not include the assets and other profit related aspects of the Income Statement. The difference between the two components is that net income indicates the money that has been generated by the company but cash flow only indicates the money flowing out and coming into the company, though both of the components have an important use for the business but are different from each other. If a company runs out of available cash it has problems paying employees and running business operations. Another major difference between profit and cash flow is that when a product is sold and as it may have been sold on credit the profit is realized immediately but the cash flow is recorded when the cash is received. The 2005 article "Understanding your Balance Sheet" describes three categories of assets. What are they Give examples of what belongs in each category. The balance sheet is an instrument that helps government know how much a company owns and how they are positioned. A balance sheet has all the assets on one side and the liabilities and capital on the other side. Both sides balance each other. The assets column mainly consists of three types of assets. Current Assets Current asset refer to those holdings of the company that can be easily liquefied and exchanged for cash. For example cash

Immigration personal letter Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Immigration personal letter - Essay Example I didn't have many savings, and I didn't even have a checking account in an American bank! I had to get an apartment for my first few months here. Every week I would buy groceries, and I had a hard time just keeping afloat. Actually, it was only a few weeks after I got to America that I found a decent job working as a System Admin with an electronics company that needed someone to oversee their software department. Basically I was making sure that everything operated smoothly. If there was a problem on my job, people would usually come see me about it because I was the computer expert. "Saurabh, what's the matter with this program Saurabh, why won't this window close Saurabh, how do I do this How do I do that" As you can see, this was a very demanding job. But I had to work hard in order so that I could send some money back to India until I could afford to bring the rest of my family over here while I was on my work visa. Finally, when I had saved up about ten-thousand dollars, I brought my wife Padma to the United States with our baby girl Dharti. Airfare from India costs quite a bit, so I had to save up for that, as well as the expenses we would have here in the U.S. after Padma and Dharti came over. In order to earn that ten-thousand dollars I had to work overtime at my job for weeks on end. But I did it because I loved my family and I really wanted them to be with me here in the United States. James Madison, one of the founding fathers of the United States, once was quoted. He said that "America was indebted to immigration for her settlement and prosperity."1 This is partially the truth, because, America is not only responsible for my success. I am also partially responsible for the success of America. Now... For awhile I thought I wasn't going to be able to make it in the United States. When I first came to the U.S., I had little money, was without my nuclear family, and didn't really speak English as well as I would have liked. Micro Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) :: essays research papers

Micro Electro-Mechanical Systems Micro Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) is the integration of mechanical elements, sensors, actuators and electronics on a common silicon substrate using microfabrication techniques. MEMS are a hot area of research because they integrate sensing, analyzing and responding on the same silicon substrate hence promising realization of complete systems-on-a-chip. As MEMS are manufactured using batch fabrication techniques similar to IC technology, MEMS are expected to deliver high functionality at low prices. Current systems are limited by the capability of sensors and actuators, as these are bulkier and less reliable than the microelectronic circuit. In a MEM system the sensors act as the ‘eyes’ and gather data about the environment. The microelectronic circuit, which is the ‘brain’, processes the data and accordingly controls the mechanical systems, the ‘arms’ of the MEMS, to modify the environment suitably. The electronics on the MEMS are manufactured using IC techniques while micro machining techniques are used to produce the mechanical and electromechanical parts. MEMS Fabrication: There are number of methods to fabricate MEMS like silicon surface micromachining, silicon bulk machining, electro discharge machining, LIGA (in German, Lithographie, Galvanoformung(Electro Plating), Abformung(Injection Moulding)) .Only silicon surface micromachining is discussed here. Silicon Surface Micromachining Silicon surface micromachining uses the same equipment and processes as the electronics semiconductor industry. There are three basic building blocks in this technology, which are the ability to deposit thin films of material on a substrate, to apply a patterned mask on top of the films by photolithographic imaging, and to etch the films selectively to the mask. A MEMS process is usually a structured sequence of these operations to form actual devices. 1. Deposition Processes: One of the basic building blocks in MEMS processing is the ability to deposit thin films of material. This is achieved either through the processes like PVD or CVD. 2. Lithography: Lithography in the MEMS context is typically the transfer of a pattern to a photosensitive material by selective exposure to a radiation source such as light. In lithography for micromachining, the photosensitive material used is typically a photoresist. When resist is exposed to a radiation source of a specific a wavelength, the chemical resistance of the resist to developer solution changes. 3. Etching: If the resist is placed in a developer solution after selective exposure to a light source, it will etch away one of the two regions (exposed or unexposed). Then another layer of material is deposited and the first layer selectively etched away as shown in the figure resulting in the required MEMS.

Check Point: Critical Thinking and Sexual Decision Making

Critical Thinking and Sexual Decision Making Misty M. Jones PSY/265 September 26th, 2012 Nicole Pansey Critical Thinking and Sexual Decision Making Critical thinking is an integral part of college. To think critically; you must be skeptical, observant, resourceful (as far as gathering information goes), and you must weigh the truths of what you find against what you have been told. Based on the way I define critical thinking; I cannot think of an instance where I applied critical thinking to having sex, unless you count how I choose birth control.Quite a few people do not consider the decision making process regarding birth control and contraceptives as part of the sexual process. I do regard it as such, for many reasons. The first is that you have to consider potential allergies when choosing a birth control method, whether it is condoms, Depo-Provera, an implant, an intrauterine device, or birth control pills. I can’t take pills because I forget to take them.I tried being on a pill for birth control as a teenager, and even with them sitting right in front of my alarm clock I could not remember to take them. However, because I generally dislike needles, I could remember that in one or two or three months (depending on when I received my last shot) I had an appointment to get more Depo-Provera. After the birth of my son Lucian, I had to choose a new birth control method; especially because for the entire year prior the only that had been used was condoms. After much discussion with my fiance, I got the new implant Implanon. At this point let me explain why I am so picky about birth control. Advertisements for birth control flood commercials, especially on networks with shows whose target audiences are teenagers. Yet for all the advertising there are things you are not informed of. For example, condom commercials do not warn you that if you allergic to latex you should ask your doctor before using them. While that concept may be common sense, most eople do not even read the box the condoms come in. I think the reason I think so critically about birth control is because I made stupid mistakes as a teenager. The bottom line is that critical thinking can prevent pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections. Thinking critically only takes about two minutes when it comes to whether or not one is prepared to have sex, you are either using protection or you aren’t†¦I would advise using protection whenever possible though.

Socrates And Machiavelli A Political Philosopher

At first glance, Socrates and Machiavelli appear to have a lot in common. They both lived in a time of political unrest and violence. They both dealt with uncertain surroundings in their societies. Most importantly, they both tried to use philosophy to improve their society. However, there was also an important difference between them. While Socrates was a moral philosopher whose goal was to search for truth and knowledge, Machiavelli was a political philosopher whose goal was to create a lasting society with a Prince that could hold power. Because of their clashing ideals, it is unlikely that Socrates would be supportive of a Machiavellian political system or Prince, though there are specific aspects of the society that Socrates would†¦show more content†¦For example, one thing Machiavelli mentions is that it is necessary for a Prince to appear â€Å"merciful, faithful, humane, trustworthy, and religious,† to his subjects. However, Machiavelli believes that actually having those qualities is irrelevant, as long as it looks like he is to his people. Socrates would not approve of this sort of deception of the population. When Socrates discusses wisdom and his quest for knowledge, he talks about how when he talked to both the poets and the craftsmen, they thought themselves knowledgeable in many aspects that they were not, which led him to conclude that true wisdom is knowing the limitations of knowledge. This common theme for Socrates, the acknowledgement of one’s shortcomings, is diametrically opposed to Machiavelli’s version of a Prince, who appears virtuous regardless of how accurate that is. Because of this, Socrates would not agree with Machiavelli on what makes a good Prince. In addition, Socrates and Machiavelli would disagree on the most important form of education that a Prince should engage in. Machiavelli argues that the only important thing a Prince needs to study is the art of war. He goes so far as to argue that, â€Å"A Prince†¦ must not have any other object nor any other thought, nor must he adopt anything as his art but war, its institutions, and its discipline.† He continues by saying that even during peacetime, a Prince needs to occupy his mind and train himselfShow MoreRelatedMachiavelli And Socrates Similarities1437 Words   |  6 Pagessame way. Human Security and National Security - 2199 Words

HUMAN AND NATIONAL SECURITY: ENMESHING CONCEPTUALIZATION OF SECURITY PARADIGM IN EMERGING SECURITY DYNAMICS Introduction and Background In the realm of international relations and political science, there has been the recurring debate on the human versus national security. Theorists and scholars, like Goucha and Crowley (2008, 57) enrolled into the ethos of realism take the state-oriented view of the security and places the dominance of national security over human security; whereas, those who take the idealistic view of the entire episode take the human security as the primary level of security to be protected by the state (Mathew, 2010, 78). The idea of human security gained eminence in security studies with developments taken place in†¦show more content†¦However, this new kind of perspective on security is greatly incapacitated by those who are responsible to provide the human security to all the citizens of the world. in this globalized world, where states are still at the helm of the affairs and they tend to define the idea of security and its related issues on local, national and international forums, those who propounds the idea of human security are often labeled as anti-statist agent or agents of neo-liberal agenda. Moreover, this supposed bias towards the advocates of human security is mainly due to the dual role of the state which it adopted in 20th century as a threat to its own people in the form of obnoxious ideologies like Nazism and Fascism in Germany and Italy respectively. Those who regard the concept of human security as vital for the security of the existence of the state are regarded as anachronistic in the face of new level of threats like nuclear warfare and international terrorism. Global Security Paradigm: Linking National Security with Human Security From these contrasting positions a new framework for global security emerges through which states are responsible to protect the rights of its people. Essay Slavery in the South - 631 Words

Slavery in the South The introduction of slavery in the Southern colonies helped the development of their economy. The plantation owners had no choice but to turn to slaves because of the lack of colonial workers and indentured servants. Slaves increased the productivity and profits generated by the huge plantations in the South because they had advantages over indentured servants. It also caused the South grow and develop different from the North, which would later lead to conflict between the two. There were many factors that caused the Southern colonies to adopt slavery into their society. Probably the biggest factor was that there weren?t very many colonial workers for the plantation owners to hire to work the†¦show more content†¦This shows that the South lacked in the white working force, forcing them to find another source of labor, African slaves. Another source of labor that was quickly dwindling for the plantation owners were indentured servants. In the first couple of waves of settlers that came over to the New World, many came over as indentured servants because it was the only way for them to pay for a trip over to escape the English economy and poverty. But the English economy began to improve and people didn?t need to come over anymore causing even more trouble for the plantation owners to find people to work the fields. Without slaves, it would have been very hard for the South to become productive. Huge plantations that required hundred?s of workers never would have made it during the 1600 and 1700s. The introduction of slaves greatly increased productivity and profits for the South. Using slaves had advantages over indentured servants. First, children that were born from an enslaved woman were property of the person who owned the slave that had the child. This meant that slave owners wouldn?t have to buy new slaves if old slaves died. Since the slaves were a different color than the colonists, run-a-ways could be found easier and therefore plantations didn?t loose as many slaves as they would have if they were using indentured servants. According to Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki this was a complete criminal act. However there are many allegations against Blackwater and it is believed that they smuggle arms into Iraq. There is enough trouble in the region and it can well be stated that further problems can be avoided to restore peace in the region. (Scahill, 1) It can be remembered that each of the wars included major and minor battles.   They had varying and distinct reasons behind them.   Allies and foes were distinctly different in each case. Each of the wars had a level of analysis.   These levels were individual state, and system.   The levels of war analysis form a hierarchy.   The responsibilities of the hierarchy rely on the scale and nature of the operation. The individual level of analysis in war includes a basic idea of how human traits cause many of the social outcomes in historical instances, including war and peace. From the perspective of sociology it can be stated that there are variations of this idea as listed in a paper written by Wade L. Huntley, Ph.D. titled Causes of War and Paths to Peace written in May of 2004. Those variations include: basic human nature, varying features of human nature and both perception and misperception. His considerations behind this would include that in factoring basic human nature, people are basically aggressive, loving, greedy and fearful and so forth. People would be of all sorts of types, some aggressive, others peaceful, greedy or generous. Perception and misperception can result as bad decisions are made, especially in times of stress, which continually exemplifies the limits of human understanding of more than just human nature. The incident in Iraq, as depicted by Scahill is basically a view that was conducted from the US point of view the views or the sociological parameters of the residents of Iraq are fundamentally overlooked in the article. (King, 145-7) It can well be stated that some analysts argue that democracy in the Middle East will elevate Islamists, including radicals, who will use democratic institutions to gain power but then implement their autocratic agenda. Democracy can also lead to instability. In short, things may get worse before they get better, which may be bad news for the US. Many however believe that in the long run increased democratic governance or the break up of static autocracies will lead to a better outcome than the status quo even if the emerging governments initially oppose U.S. policies. Some furthermore argue that any type of somewhat democratic government would find more common ground with the U.S. than the existing ones even if rapprochement was gradual and difficult. But from the point of view of an Iraqi it can be stated that independence is all that is relevant and it can be mentioned that Scahill was unable to relate himself to this consequence. Traditional security policy emphasizes military means for reducing the risks of war and for prevailing if deterrence fails. Human security’s proponents, while not eschewing the use of force, have focused to a much greater degree on non-coercive approaches. These range from preventive diplomacy, conflict management and post–conflict peace building, to addressing the root causes of conflict by building state capacity and promoting equitable economic development.   The new dimensions of human security are well outlined by the United Nations Development Program in their Human Development Report of 1994. (Lamb, 288-9) Human Security has always been at issue in some format or another. You see it in the methods employed during peacetime and during war time. The methodology utilized might in fact be different from generation to generation, but the concept itself has hardly managed to evolve into something other than what its basics stem from. The pursuits of life and liberty, happiness and peace have been a part of the psyche of humanity since the beginnings of human existence and it would have been much better if the article had developed on these principals. Keeping in mind the developments in Iraq the only solution the USA is left with is one that most people connected to the White House consider absolute anathema. But the truth remains that a military ‘solution’ to the issue is no solution at all but rather a spiralling tunnel leading to a thousand other issues, all of which are far too dangerous to be contemplated. So what can USA do? Well, for starters it can seriously rethink some of its recent policies and shift its focus from military attack to some old fashioned diplomacy instead. But while that sounds simple enough for Washington it is a job unparalleled in its difficulty and, if present indications are anything to go by then, something that is hardly likely to happen and Scahill as a journalist must keep his position as humane and compassionate as possible in this context. Growing bargaining power of consumers who have many more choices. In conclusion, this analysis signals an unfavorable weakness in the company overall. By far, the most obvious point within Sodas weaknesses is the companys inability to change their business model and strategy with the changing times. This case on Kodak has made it abundantly clear that- albeit a company that still carries a reputable and long lasting name- they have been slow to effectively strategies and engage opportunities in the market; thus, they have succumb to serious pressure from competition, who have surpassed them and taken market share by innovating within the technological curve. Kodak needs to implement a solid strategy that will propel them forward, toward the opportunities for growth in newer technologies and wider product lines. Their company may be able to turn their dwindling market share around by engaging a low-cost or niche marketing strategy that employs their closest and strongest core competencies. 5. What is Sodas strategy to compete in the digital photography industry? Has the strategy been effective? Sodas direction appears to be mostly involved in a broad differentiation strategy. CEO, Daniel Carp, put forth a Power Point Presentation in 003 that entailed segmented strategy on how the company was going to better take advantage of the digital commercial markets. Although some of the strategy involved cutting cost, the main strategy was given to expand within I) commercial imaging, I) health imaging, and iii) consumer imaging. Expansion within these three areas covered a broad range of ideas, such as implementing more distribution outputs, offering more imaging products and services, developing more sophistication in the digital capture business, and continuing to grow market share in their old standby in the traditional till business. At the end to 2 shareholder owning Hay to the company stock got together to refute Carps strategy. They wanted to cut costs and head in a new direction. Maybe they were right about the change in direction. In analyzing Eastman Kodak Companys current data from The Financial Times, it is obvious that this strategy did not work given their financial and market performance- not to mention the fact that new CEO Antonio M. Perez replaced Daniel Carp shortly after the publication of this case in 2003. Included here is the market performance of the company over the past five years:

Changing Trends Of Hospitality Industry In India Tourism Essays Changing Trends Of Hospitality Industry In India Tourism Essay Changing Trends Of Hospitality Industry In India Tourism Essay Vol. 18 No. 6, 2006 ) . In add-on, there has been an addition in the use of engineering as a manner of doing on-line reserves through several distribution channels. These channels can be interpreted as an organized and serviced system that is paid for, out of the selling budget and is used to supply an entree to the clients, who are off from the location of production and ingestion ( Middleton and Clark, Selling in Travel and Tourism, 2001 ) . Normally in India, clients would do a reserve by either straight nearing the hotel or by booking through a travel agent. However, now the electronic distribution channels like the Global Distribution System ( GDS ) and the cyberspace have been steadily deriving popularity. ( Dabas and Manakt. , Vol. 19 No. 5, 2007 ) . Because of the perishable nature of the stock lists, its really important for the hotel to hold an economical distribution. ( OConnor, Vol. 4. pg 1-15, 2002 ) . RESEARCH METHODOLOGY Every research methodological analysis includes a research design which may be defined as the set of conditions organized hypothetically for the aggregation and analysis of informations that aims to incorporate relevancy to the research procedure with economic system in process Research Problem: Understanding the development in cordial reception industry along with the current tendencies and, how the companies have been affected the demand for their consumers every bit good as their perceptual experience. Research Question: The altering tendencies of the Hospitality Industry in India Research Aims: 1. The public presentation of Hospitality industry in India. 2. How has the tendency transformed in the past few old ages. 3. Analyzing the demand and supply of adjustment and turning monetary values in different Indian cordial reception industry? 4. How has the perceptual experience about the restaurants/hotels and bars changed in the heads of consumers? 5. Who are the main participants in the Indian market every bit good as the 1s that have branched outside India? Approach: Since there is no relationship between the Hospitality Industry and the decision, the research would be to the full prelusive so that the decision, which is being analysed utilizing different methods of study and survey, would back up the research. Scheme: The scheme that will be followed for the research work will be Surveys. Surveys will be taken from either the Hotels or Resto-Bars in India and besides from the clients of different cordial reception sections. DATA COLLECTION My informations aggregation processes for this research would dwell of series of processs, which would be farther branched into primary and secondary informations aggregation. PRIMARY DATA COLLECTION The chief procedures that I would be trusting on while utilizing my primary informations aggregation would be through questionnaire based on the information, that will be done by personally run intoing the clients and by directing them stations and by run intoing the staff of the hotel in individual. The questionnaire I would be working on, would be divided in a manner that would be most efficient in managing them and by maintaining the clip factor into consideration, the most applicable system would be applied to the best suited group. While using a incorrect procedure in garnering information would ensue in detaining the whole operation. The research subject requires a Qualitative method to measure the findings aimed for. A well framed questionnaire will be given in individual. The appropriate tool for my research proposal would be a type of a study, because the best manner to obtain the needed informations, in order to happen replies for my research inquiries, would be inquiring a set of inquiries. Every methods of informations aggregation have its ain advantages every bit good as disadvantages. For illustration: Internet study: Survey done through electronic mails and file sharing. The advantages of Internet as a manner of study are: 1. Survey can be set up faster. 2. Survey consequences are faster. 3. Response can be administered by leting pre and station inquiries. 4. The skip-pattern inquiries can be used to extinguish interviewer mistake. 5. Respondent can reply at their ain convenience. 6. Cost of interview in minimum. Although, Internet study has many advantages, it might non be the most appropriate method of appraising for this thesis. The ground behind this is the namelessness of the web, which makes any type of avowal hard, if non impossible. Postal Questionnaire is yet another type of study which has the undermentioned advantages and disadvantages: Advantages Their costs are comparatively low. Datas can be obtained from big sample countries. Can avoid interview prejudice. Privacy scenes can be enhanced for the respondents. Rating graduated tables can be flexible. Disadvantages Poor response rates. Respondents may misinterpret inquiries. The intended individual may non be the 1 who completed questionnaire. The comparative nature of the inquiries to be posted is supposed to hold confidential information, has made me to make up ones mind that postal questionnaire might be the most appropriate signifier for roll uping information. The methods for informations aggregation scope from the simple usage of postal questionnaire to face-to-face interviews, where an interviewer uses tape recording equipment and note taking as their tools for roll uping information. Few of the methods are expensive but they certainly guarantee a good response rate, while others being inexpensive to administrate but are most likely to bring forth a hapless response ( Les Oakshott, 2001 ) SECONDARY DATA COLLECTION: The secondary informations are the type of informations that are made by others for their ain intents. The secondary information for my research proposal would be gathered from the companies own informations archives and from their one-year fiscal studies. In add-on, the findings of former research surveies on outsourcing an accounting procedure would give an ample sum of historical informations or decision-making forms. I would besides be utilizing Internet to acquire some more information about the industry and usage diaries for acquiring direction from the past researches on this subject. TOOLS FOR DATA ANALYSIS The informations collected from the questionnaire would be analyzed through the SPSS text analysis.
